DE STAYER Man Utd eager to reopen De Gea contract talks as he eyes £350k-a-week deal SunSport revealed in December that De Gea, who is currently on £200,000 a week, had told pals he was inclined to stay and was edging towards a new deal
MANCHESTER UNITED want to break the deadlock over David De Gea’s new deal and reopen talks.
The Red Devils are desperate to keep the Spaniard, who is eyeing a £350,000-a-week contract.
And they will attempt to thrash out anagreement with the keeper’s representatives before the end of this season.
SunSport revealed in December that De Gea, who is currently on £200,000 a week, had told pals he was inclined to stay and was edging towards a new deal.
Further talks were held last month but the sides are locked in a stalemate.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival as interim boss has turned United’s season around and 28-year-old De Gea is understood to now be optimistic about their ambitions.
But so far United’s offers have not met their star’s demands. They have triggered a contract extension to keep him at Old Trafford until summer 2020.
They risk losing him for nothing if he runs down his contract — and that could see Paris Saint-Germain pile on the pressure to cash in after this season with a £60million offer.
United want world-class players at the club and De Gea was their standout performer during the struggles under Jose Mourinho at the start of this campaign.
