'Until everything was sorted out there was a time of tension': Luis Enrique admits feud with Lionel Messi while Barcelona boss... before patching up relationship to win treble


Luis Enrique has admitted he fell out with Lionel Messi at Barcelona before the two eventually made peace and went on to win the treble together.
In the first game of 2015, Barcelona were stunned by David Moyes' Real Sociedad losing 1-0 in Anoeta with Messi on the bench until half-time.

Messi had been allowed two extra days of holiday in Argentina by the then-Barca boss.

But when he returned he felt Luis Enrique was singling him out in training and during one five-a-side he lost his temper with the coach. The two had an angry exchange when Luis Enrique, acting as referee, refused to give Messi a free-kick.
Messi was left out against Real Sociedad and Barcelona fell behind after two minutes when Jordi Alba put through his own net.
Messi came on at half time but Moyes' side took the points and Messi missed a subsequent training session the following week complain of stomach ache.

Messi was later brought on by Enrique but could not prevent his side slipping to defeat at the hands of David Moyes' side in the Spanish top flight clash

In an interview with Radio Catalunya yet to aired in full, Luis Enrique said: 'Until everything was sorted out there was a time of tension. I was not looking for it but it appeared and I had to manage the situation. But now I can only see great things about Messi.'
The two men embraced after the Champions League final at the end of the season as they won the treble.
Luis Enrique also told Radio Cataluyna: 'We are talking about a genius. Messi is the matrix - that image when everything slows down and he can do what he wants.
'It's something only he can do. Andres Iniesta has that similar peripheral vision. I've only seen those two do it, above all Messi.'
