Lebanon’s main port flattened as 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, stored at the port since 2014, explodes - the 6th largest non-nuclear human-induced explosion in history. Over 100 people have died, 4,000 wounded, hundreds still buried in the rubble & around 250,000 left homeless. The explosion was so powerful that it was heard even in Cyprus. Massive shipping containers were flipped upside down, cranes melted under the intense fire, buildings in a 10 mile radius were all shattered, wheat silos at the port were destroyed & in them, the country’s 6 weeks of wheat stock! The bankrupt country had been hoping to monetize this port to earn much needed foreign exchange, but the destruction pretty much leaves the country without a future. main port flattened as 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, stored at the port since 2014, explodes - the 6th largest non-nuclear human-induced explosion in history.
